‘Come From Away’ Manila to Host Sign Language-Interpreted Show for Deaf Community
GMG Productions has just announced that it will be hosting a sign language-interpreted performance of Come From Away on June 27, 8PM.
In collaboration with the Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Deaf consultants and interpreters of Benilde Center for Education Advancement of the Deaf (CEAD) and the School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies – Interpreting Education Program (SDEAS-IEP), the musical will be interpreted in FSL live by Benilde’s FSL interpreters, enabling Deaf audience members to fully engage with the emotion, storytelling, and musicality of the production.
“At GMG Productions, we believe that theater should be for everyone,” said Carlos Candal, CEO of GMG Productions. “We’re committed to building a more inclusive audience by creating opportunities for people of all abilities to experience the magic of live performance. This FSL interpreted show, and collaborating closely with the Benilde FSL interpreting team, is one of the many steps we’re taking to make that vision a reality.”
A dedicated orchestra seating section has been reserved exclusively for Deaf audience members and their companions to ensure clear sightlines and the best possible viewing experience to the interpreter. Access to these seats is available only through the promo code ACCESSSEATS, which provides a 20% discount. On top of the 20% discount, the standard PWD discount is available at physical TicketWorld outlets for Deaf or Hard-of-hearing patrons with a valid PWD card. This arrangement supports accessibility efforts and a welcoming environment for all attendees. PWD guests can refer to the accessibility services indicated on the Samsung Performing Arts Theater website for more information.
Come From Away runs until June 29 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, with tickets exclusively available via TicketWorld, starting at P900.
