‘Frozen’ Stage Musical is Now Streaming Online
Frozen, the stage musical starring Samantha Barks as Elsa, is now streaming on Disney+!
Based on the 2013 Disney animated film, Frozen tells the tale of Anna, a brave princess who must find her Snow Queen sister, Elsa, to help reverse the icy winter that has descended upon their home kingdom of Arendelle.
As previously reported, the West End production, which opened on September 8, 2021 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, ended its run after three years on September 8, 2024. Featuring music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and a book by Jennifer Lee, the streaming production stars Barks and Laura Dawkes as Anna. It also boasts of 12 new songs that were not in the original animated film.
The production was nominated for four Olivier Awards in 2022, including Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical for Stephanie McKeon, who played the original Anna in the production, Best Costume Design for Christopher Oram, and Best Lighting Design for Neil Austin. It is directed by Michael Grandage, with choreography by Rob Ashford.
The Broadway musical opened in March 2018 and closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic. It was staged in 2023 in Singapore.
