CAST PH has just announced at tonight’s curtain call that its staging of William Shakespeare’s Othello will return to The Mirror Studios in March 2025!

Directed by CAST PH’s Artistic Director Nelsito Gomez, the production is currently enjoying a sold-out run, which was originally scheduled to end on October 13. Due to popular demand, additional performances were added for October 11 at 3 PM and for October 19 at 8 PM.

Gomez shares, “Our goal is to expose the blood and guts of this play written in 1604. Shakespeare was a contemporary man and wrote for his modern audiences. And the reason why his plays have never gone out of fashion is because his themes are so human and universal, they speak to any time period and to any society. So it would be a disservice on my part not to attack this play from a modern perspective.”

The cast features Tarek El Tayech as Othello, Gab Pangilinan as Desdemona, Reb Atadero as Iago, Maronne Cruz as Emilia, Davy Narciso as Cassio, Rafael Jimenez as Roderigo, Dippy Arceo as Bianca, MC Dela Cruz as the Duke of Venice/Lodovico, Jaime Del Mundo as Brabantio, and Nelsito Gomez as Montano.

Also part of the creative team with Gomez are D Cortezano for lighting design, Myke Salomon for sound design, Sarah Facuri for production design, and Missy Maramara for intimacy direction.

Othello tells the story of a Moorish general who is manipulated by his envious ensign, Iago, into believing that his wife, Desdemona, is unfaithful, leading to tragic consequences.

The show will return for 8 performances only, running from March 7 to 9 and March 14 to 16, 2025, at The Mirror Studios. Ticketing details will be announced soon.
