3 University-Based Productions this October 2024
Three university-based productions will be running across the Metro this October! Know more about them below.
1. Sa Tahanan ng Aking Ama by Ateneo ENTABLADO

Ateneo ENTABLADO is set to stage Sa Tahanan ng Aking Ama, a Filipino translation by Jerry Respeto of Elsa Coscolluela’s In My Father’s House, from October 9 to October 27 at the Doreen Black Box Theater in Areté, Ateneo de Manila University.
The play follows the Santamaria family, a prominent and influential political family in Dumaguete, Negros Island, during the three-year Japanese occupation of the Philippines. Rooted in the true story of playwright Elsa Coscolluela’s father and her mother-in-law’s family, the play vividly portrays the slow unraveling of an Ilonggo family and the inner disintegration of its members against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation in 1940s Negros.
Sa Tahanan ng Aking Ama will feature performances by veteran actors, alumni of the organization, and current students: Jethro Tenorio and Gie Onida as Carlos Santamaria, Glecy Atienza and Katski Flores as Amanda Santamaria, Arkel Mendoza and Gino Ramirez as Miguel Santamaria, Vino Mabalot and Johnrick Noynay as Franco Santamaria, Bea Jose and Iman Ampatuan as Isabel Santamaria, Chase Salazar and Joy Delos Santos as Cristy Santamaria, Chantei Cortez, Louis Paguia, and Rona Saunders as Marisa, Jeremy Mayores, Uriel Dolorfino, and Jerome Loresco as Emilio, Charles Yee, Gerald Morfe, and Mav Ang as Captain Haroda, and Lyle Viray, Julius Rafael, and Kyle Tano as Victor. The soldiers will be portrayed by Josh Olmos, Sam Juada, Gab Pacardo, Mav Ang, and Joax Geronimo.
The Artistic Team includes Jerry Respeto for Direction and Translation, Ohm David for Production Design, John Batalla for Lighting Design, Jopie Sanchez for Makeup and Hair Design, Jean Pierre Reniva for Costume Design, Robert Yam for Sound Design, Vince Lim for Composition, and G.A. Faliarme for Projection Design.
The show will run for 17 performances: matinee shows will be at 2:00 PM on October 12-13, 19-20, and 26-27, while evening shows will be at 7:00 PM on all show dates. Tickets are priced at PhP 850 for the general public (inclusive of service fee), PhP 680 for Senior Citizens and PWDs, PhP 500 for Ateneo students (LS, SHS, JHS), PhP 450 for Scholars, and PhP 400 for Ateneo PWDs.

2. Five Angry Friends by UA&P’s ViARE

UA&P’s ViARE begins its 31st season with a twist on the organization’s previous year-end production, Five Angry Friends, reworking this bittersweet play about five friends who haven’t spoken in a month due to an incident at their last sleepover.
On the verge of their friend group breaking up, they reunite in a last-ditch attempt to fix things. But what if some things need to break for them to move forward?
Directed by Mariella Suemith, Five Angry Friends is an original script written and reworked by members of ViARE, featuring Russell Masangkay as Noah, Rafa Racho as Rafa, Tobey Perez as Jared, Mahana Del Castillo as Olivia, and Alyannah Solis as Lucy.
Five Angry Friends will be performed on October 23, 25, 26, 28, and 30 at 8 PM at The Nest on the ground floor of ACB, UA&P. Tickets are available for purchase here: https://forms.gle/qqCnXi2SiZH297AGA.
3. Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig by FEU Theater Guild

Co-presented by the FEU Center for the Arts (FCA) and Alumni Relations Office (ARO), the FEU Theater Guild (FTG) restages Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig for the fourth time to close its 90th theater season.
The play, adapted by Teresa Lorena Jopson from Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s The Handsomest Drowned Man, features music composed by Jeff Hernandez, with Jesus Singh III as musical director. Dudz Teraña, FTG’s Artistic Director, serves as both director and choreographer.
In an FTG first, the play will be set on water. “It’s challenging to work with water, which we haven’t done in the past three stagings of this play. This element makes the production so exciting,” remarked Teraña.
There will be two sets of townspeople with an all-female and all-male principal cast, with each character portrayed by either current members of the FEU Theater Guild or its alumni. Brigitta Marilla, Kesiah Aritao, and FTG alumna Raven Relavo Singh will alternate as Pipi, the narrator; Kesiah Aritao and alumnus Kobie Hachero as the hopeful Buntis; Heleina Li and Jonas Cunanan as Ipokrita; Julia Ramas and FTG alumnus Jasper Estaras as the playful Haliparot; Maria Delos Reyes and alumnus Jesus Singh as Lola; and Raffaelle Pascua and Aaron Bayani as the strong Kapitan.
The show will run at 6 PM on the following dates: October 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 30, and November 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 2024.
Ticket prices are PHP 200 for the FEU Community, PHP 400 for guests, and PHP 600 for VIPs.
