Mad Child Productions is set to stage a full-length devised play entitled Ang Walang Hanggang Banyuhay Natin (AWHBN), based on the works of the Greek poet Sappho, from whom the term “sapphic” originated, this October.

The play is written by Mikaela Regis and devised with the company of AWHBN. The production is largely for women, about women, and by women, as evidenced by its all-female team—from the cast to the creative, technical, and business teams.

The project is spearheaded by director Kat Batara and playwright Mikaela Regis, featuring performances by Joy de los Santos, Teia Contreras, Iman Ampatuan, Ara Fernando, and Liway Perez. The artistic team is composed of dramaturg Sabrina Basilio, sound designer Angel Dayao, production designer Julia Macuja, lighting designer Gera Corpus, and graphic designer Mary Franz Manlutac.

Ang Walang Hanggang Banyuhay Natin follows the lives of five women from all walks of life across different time periods. It begins with the story of the babaylan Anggoran, who loved the Datu’s daughter, Dayang Humasanun, so dearly that she begged the heavens to tie their souls together so they may find their way to each other in every lifetime. And so they did—again and again, throughout the fragments of Philippine history, they kept crossing paths and will continue to find each other until the world finally recognizes the magnitude of their love, whether as lovers, sisters, mother and daughter, or friends.

The show will be staged at Dark Roast Coffeehouse, 107 Maginhawa Street, Quezon City, on October 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:30 PM, with additional matinee performances on October 12 and 19 at 3:00 PM. The show will run for approximately an hour and a half. Tickets are priced at P850 each and include a 100-peso consumable voucher for any food and beverages at Dark Roast Coffeehouse, to be used on the show date. Audiences may arrive as early as an hour before the show and are welcome to stay and mingle until the café closes at 1:00 AM.
