The 20-person independent jury of the Gawad Buhay! Awards has released the second round of citations for the 15th edition (2025 ceremonies) of Philstage’s annual awards for theater.

Four productions, including the premieres of three new Filipino musicals, were considered for this round: Rent by 9 Works Theatrical, One More Chance, The Musical by Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical by Full House Theater Company, and Bar Boys: A New Musical by Barefoot Theatre Collaborative.

Rent was considered a new production of existing material for a musical, while the three others were categorized under Outstanding Musical – Original or Translation/Adaptation. Only Bar Boys was deemed eligible for Outstanding Original Score, as One More Chance and Buruguduystunstugudunstuy were jukebox musicals, or those whose scores (almost) completely comprised of existing music.

Bar Boys: A New Musical led this round of citations with a total of 18 nods (tying Pingkian: Isang Musikal during the first round of citations), followed by One More Chance, The Musical with 16, Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical with 8, and Rent with 4.

Nominations for the 2025 ceremonies will be drawn from the final pool of citations for each category. As per awards rules, a citation renders a production or production element eligible for a nomination; it is not a guarantee of a nomination.
