‘The Greatest Showman’ Stage Musical Adaptation Currently in the Works
A stage musical adaptation of The Greatest Showman is currently in development by the Disney Theatrical Group. The news was announced at the Disney Entertainment Showcase on Friday night from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
The stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will feature the Academy Award-nominated songs of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The production timetable, creative team, and cast will be announced at a later date.
According to Variety, the audience was treated to a surprise performance of The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman. Ryan Vasquez, known for his role in Broadway’s The Notebook, took the stage dressed as Hugh Jackman’s character, P. T. Barnum, alongside four other cast members, all beneath a banner proclaiming, The Greatest Showman: The New Musical. You can watch the performance in this video uploaded by Daps Magic below.
The Greatest Showman is a 2017 musical drama starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, the visionary behind the modern circus.
