‘Once On This Island’ Releases Cast Schedules

9 Works Theatrical has just announced the cast schedules for its upcoming staging of Once On This Island, running from September 6 to 29, 2024 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of RCBC Plaza.

Directed by Robbie Guevara, the musical is set in the French Antilles in the Caribbean and tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of the island. The story is framed as a folk tale narrated by a group of storytellers to a frightened young girl during a storm.

Based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy, which in turn is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, Once On This Island is a Broadway musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty.

As previously reported, the cast is led by Angela Ken and Thea Astley as Ti Moune, and Sam Concepcion and Jef Flores as Daniel. Joining them are Garrett Bolden as Agwe, Radha as Asaka, Lorenz Martinez as Papa Ge, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez and Jasmine Fitzgerald as Erzulie, Raul Montesa and Noel Rayos as Tonton Julian, Lani Ligot as Mama Euralie, Shanaia Gomez and Krystal Kane as Andrea, PJ Rebullida as Armand, Jonjon Martin, Sam Libao, Jordan Andrews, and Fay Castro as the Storytellers, and Bianca Estacio and Reese Iso as Little Ti Moune.

Joining Guevara in the creative team are Daniel Bartolome as musical director, Mio Infante as scenographer, JM Cabling as choreographer, and Lionel Guico as vocal coach.
