‘Laru-Laruan’ Play to be Livestreamed on Kumu this Weekend
PETA, through its Lingap Sining Program, is leading a digital festival campaign entitled Bagong Bilang: The Power of the Youth Vote.
The campaign aims to celebrate the young people’s power to amplify their voices and agencies towards advocating for transformative change in their communities and schools. It also aims to amplify its content and advocacies on voters’ education and youth participation towards engaged citizenship. The week-long festival, which will be conducted on multiple platforms– Kumu, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, ends this Sunday, March 20.
One of the line-ups in the festival is the play Laru-Laruan, which will be livestreamed on March 19 at the P.A.K. (Performing Artists on Kumu) account on the livestreaming app, Kumu. Written by Erica Tobes and adapted to Kumu by John Moran, Laru-laruan is a monologue battle between two best friends with different political ideologies. It is presented by the University of the East Drama Company (UEDC), the official theater organization of the University of the East under the Office of Cultural Affairs, to be performed by Micah Dadizon and Airish Torres. It will be directed by Mariam Joi Dadizon. The online event will be hosted by Uleb Nieto and Welwel Silvestre.
Other online events include Spoken Word Poetry performances, music videos, and online talks, among others. You can find the rest of the remaining line-up below.
