SET DESIGN
We will waste no time to start to develop your skills as a designer, helping you to translate your ideas into sketches, scale models and mood boards. And most important, how to develop a critical eye for performance. We will look at the theatre space, understand the necessity of research and analysis, create design interpretations in 2D and 3D and explore other visual languages available to designers.
COSTUME DESIGN
We will explore the skills and processes required when designing costume for performance. You will gain an understanding the stages of the costume design process, from the development of ideas to the final design. You will create designs through the analysis of the script text, the understanding of the characters roll and their movements within the piece.
You will leave the course having gained a greater understanding of the steps involved with developing your ideas and bringing characters and their settings to life. You will have a small body of costume and/or set designs to take away with you.
The course is designed for anyone looking to extend their skills in theatre. It is suitable for those with no previous experience in theater design or performance and those who want to diversify from their current creative discipline.
