Sneak Peek: Performance Excerpts from Curtains Up! with Tanya Manalang and Mig Ayesa
Last July 1, Resorts World Manila organized a press conference to launch Curtains Up!, a one night only concert happening on July 14 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila. It will feature Broadway, The West End, and Manila theater stalwarts, Tanya Manalang and Mig Ayesa, with special participation by Lea Salonga.

In the press Q&A, Tanya and Mig talk about how they first met each other.
Tanya: “I watched him as Stacee Jaxx in the Rock of Ages staging here in Manila, and all I could remember was abs. (laughs) And then I finally met him when he watched me in [Miss] Saigon in London. I met him at stagedoor and he was one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met.”
Mig: “I was actually the one starstruck because I was very lucky to see Miss Saigon in its preview stages and I saw Tanya on her very first performance in The West End. I was absolutely blown away. And then I met her at stagedoor. It was like love at first sight.”
Tanya: Nastarstruck siya sa akin, nastarstruck din ako sa kanya. The feeling was mutual! (laughs)
Director Freddie Santos that the performers will not only sing songs from Broadway and The West End, but will also be performing original songs from Manila’s theater scene. Now that’s something to watch out for.
