Co-presented by the FEU Center for the Arts (FCA) and Alumni Relations Office (ARO), the FEU Theater Guild (FTG)’s Ang Pinakamakisig sa mga Nalunod sa Buong Daigdig, which opened last October 2, continues to run this November at the FEU Center for the Arts Studio.
The play, adapted by Teresa Lorena Jopson from Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s The Handsomest Drowned Man, features music composed by Jeff Hernandez, with Jesus Singh III as musical director. Dudz Teraña, FTG’s Artistic Director, serves as both director and choreographer.
In an FTG first, the play will be set on water. “It’s challenging to work with water, which we haven’t done in the past three stagings of this play. This element makes the production so exciting,” remarked Teraña.
There will be two sets of townspeople with an all-female and all-male principal cast, with each character portrayed by either current members of the FEU Theater Guild or its alumni. Brigitta Marilla, Kesiah Aritao, and FTG alumna Raven Relavo Singh will alternate as Pipi, the narrator; Kesiah Aritao and alumnus Kobie Hachero as the hopeful Buntis; Heleina Li and Jonas Cunanan as Ipokrita; Julia Ramas and FTG alumnus Jasper Estaras as the playful Haliparot; Maria Delos Reyes and alumnus Jesus Singh as Lola; and Raffaelle Pascua and Aaron Bayani as the strong Kapitan.
The show will run at 6 PM on the following dates: November 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 2024.

Housebound because of illness, a girl hasn’t been to school in months. Confined to her room, she has only Instagram and Facebook for company. That is until a classmate bursts in – uninvited and armed with waffle fries, a scruffy copy of Walt Whitman’s poetry and a school project due the next day… Caroline is unimpressed all around.
But an unlikely friendship develops and a seemingly mundane piece of homework starts to reveal the pair’s hopes and dreams – as well as a deep and mysterious bond that connects them even further.
Written by Lauren Gunderson and directed by Sarah Facuri, the play will be presented at the MINT College Taguig Campus, Playhouse on November 8, 15 at 7 PM and November 9, 16 at 3 PM and 7 PM.
4. ISKO’T ISKA BY UPLB

In its 48th year at the University of the Philippines-Los Banos (UPLB), Isko’t Iska seeks to show the history of student activism in the country, militarization in the campus and communities, historical revisionism, human rights violations, and the struggles of fisherfolks.
Isko’t Iska is an annual community theater production initially made to welcome and enlighten freshmen about the struggles and ills faced by UPLB students, marginalized communities, and the general Filipino masses.
As the biggest theater production in UPLB, Isko’t Iska continues to live by its motto, “dulang mula sa masa, para sa masa.” Recently, the production conducts constant basic mass integrations (BMIs) in the fishing communities in Cavite for its actors and staff to have a deeper understanding of the stories of the communities they will portray.
The fishing community in Cavite has been greatly affected by oil spill caused by the sinking of Motor Tanker (MT) Terra Nova, carrying 1.4 million liters of industrial oil. SL Harbor Bulk Terminal Corporation, a subidiary of San Miguel Shipping and Lighterage Corporation, chartered the transport of the industrial fuel.
The oil spill did not only jeopardize the life below water but also hampered the livelihood and lives of the Cavite fisherfolks. Moreover, the production visited the farmers of Lupang Ramos and Brgy. Tartaria in Cavite to get a grasp of their plights in defending their lands against landlords and State forces.
This year, the actors of Isko’t Iska 2024 will portray an episodic story that aims to remind the audience of the history and importance of student movement in amplifying the voices of the oppressed sectors in the current society. Isko’t Iska 2024 will be held from November 14 to 16 at UPLB.
