‘3 Upuan’ Announces Additional Shows to Sold-out Run
Five days before the show officially opens, Guelan Varela-Luarca’s 3 Upuan has already announced a sold-out run for its limited 10-show engagement this February.
Initially slated for February 1 to 13, the play features performances by JC Santos, Jojit Lorenzo, and Martha Comia. Due to high demand, four additional shows have been added on February 22 and 23 at 3 PM and 8 PM at the Joselito and Olivia Campos Interactive Teaching Laboratory, Areté, Ateneo de Manila University.
3 Upuan is the debut production of the new theater company Scene Change, which comprises the three cast members alongside Luarca, lighting designer and technical director D Cortezano, and film and theater writer-director-producer Giancarlo Abrahan. Produced in collaboration with Areté, the play follows the story of three siblings—Jack, Jers, and Jai—who are brought together and torn apart by death.
The intimate staging, featuring only three chairs and three actors, accommodates just 60 audience members per show. Luarca, as director, leads the creative team, which includes Monty Uy (stage management), Teia Contreras (assistant direction and video projection), Anyah and Katriel Garcia (movement), D Cortezano (lighting design), Julia Vaila (production management and sound), and Nyssa Bianzon (technical direction).
Tickets are priced at P1,200 and can be purchased via Ticket2Me.
