Miss Saigon Holds Open Auditions
According to Inquirer,
Cameron Mackintosh announces Open Call Auditions in Manila for various upcoming global productions of “Miss Saigon,” the record breaking production that is taking London by storm and opens on Broadway in 2017.
Auditions will be represented and facilitated in Manila by Bobby Garcia and Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group (Ateg) and held at the Opera Haus (3657 Bautista St., Makati City), in March.
Roles that Garcia will be looking for are Kim, Gigi, The Engineer, Thuy, and the rest of the Asian roles.
Filipino Artists in Miss Saigon Productions
Lea Salonga, Jon Jon Briones, Rachelle Ann Go, Joanna Ampil, Robert Seña, and Isay Alvarez-Seña, are some of the Filipinos who have been a part of the Miss Saigon production on the world stage.
For originating the role of Kim, Salonga won an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1989, a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1991, and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical on the same year. Briones was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical at last year’s Olivier Awards.
