And the memory lives on.

The Philippines’ very own Joanna Ampil will reprise her role as Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless musical Cats. She will be joining the International Tour that will kick off in Dubai from January 16 to 25, and will end in Horsens, Denmark on November 5, 2017.

Ampil previously played Grizabella for the 2013 UK tour, the 2014 European Tour and a 2016, 3-week engagement in Basel, Switzerland.

In case this announcement has given you much excitement, here’s a YouTube video of Joanna Ampil singing “Memory” that could possibly send you to book your tickets to Europe:

The clip was taken from the 2014 West End Women Tour – a glimpse of what gift she will bring to the European audience.

The European Tour of Cats will be directed by Trevor Nunn (Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard), with Gillian Lynne (Cats, Phantom of the Opera) as the associate director and choreographer.

Cats is adapted from TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, and tells the story of the Jellicles – a tribe of cats who meets at the Jellicle Ball to take in the Jellicle choice made by their leader Old Deuteronomy as to who “will go up to The Heaviside Layer, and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.”

Cats is the fourth longest-running show in both Broadway and West End.

Meanwhile, here’s to hoping that a Philippine stop with Joanna Ampil as Grizabella could come to fruition. Ampil just won Best Actress in a Musical in the recently concluded 2016 Aliw Awards for her role as in Francesca Johnson Atlantis Theatrical’s The Bridges of Madison County.
