‘Enchanted’ Sequel to Premiere in 2022, Announces Additional Cast
Disenchanted, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2007’s Enchanted, has started production. The film, directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, The Wedding Planner) and produced by Barry Josephson (Enchanted), Amy Adams (Arrival, American Hustle) and Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, Addams Family Values), is currently shooting in Ireland and will be premiering exclusively on the Disney+ streaming platform in 2022.
As previously reported, many of the main cast from the 2007 film will be reprising their roles in the sequel including Amy Adams as Giselle, Patrick Dempsey as Robert, James Marsden as Prince Edward, and Idina Menzel as Nancy.
New cast members include Maya Rudolph (Saturday Night Live) as Malvina, Giselle’s new adversary in Monroeville; Kolton Stewart (Some Assembly Required) as Malvina’s son; Yvette Nicole Brown (Lady and the Tramp) as Rosalyn; Jayma Mays (Glee) as Ruby; Oscar Nunez (The Office) as Edgar; and newcomer Gabriella Baldacchino as Robert Philip’s now grown daughter, Morgan.
Disenchanted centers on Giselle, the princess from the fairy tale world of Andalasia banished to Manhattan who found her real Princess Charming in divorce lawyer Robert Philip. The story picks up 15 years later, as Giselle moves to the suburb of Monroeville with Robert and their daughter Morgan, where she must juggle the challenges that come with a new home and discover what happily ever after truly means to her and her new family.
The film will also feature new songs from Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, who earned three Academy Award nominations from their work in the original film for the songs “Happy Working Song,” “That’s How You Know,” and “So Close.”
