CURIOUS INCIDENT, WAR HORSE, AND MORE: Lunchbox Theatrical Reveals Potential Line-up
Get ready for your mind to be blown, theater fan!
Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, well known for bringing in some of the most renowned international musicals to the country (Wicked, Singin’ in the Rain, The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago), is bringing the acclaimed classic WEST SIDE STORY and The London West End Production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC soon after Wicked. West Side Story will be opening on August 10, and The Sound of Music is opening on October 3.
Earlier at the media call for Wicked, Lunchbox producer and CEO James Cundall teased the press about having plotted the next few productions after 2017. Naturally, we had to ask him point blank what those shows were.
“We choose shows for 3 reasons. One is they’re brand names so I don’t need to explain it to them. When I say The Sound of Music, West Side Story, or EVITA, you know the show because it’s an international brand. The second thing is we know that there’s an international production of a high quality available and we put together a tour. And the third reason is we find the dates when we can do it.”
“Evita will come. That will be the Hal Prince production, which has been reinvented. The UK West End production of THE BODYGUARD will come, which is the Whitney Houston film put into a musical. We’re looking at WAR HORSE, which we have dates for.”

War Horse, which was adapted into a film helmed by Steven Spielberg in 2011, won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Play, the 2011 Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a Play, and the 2011 Drama Desk for Outstanding Play, among many others.
When we asked when he was planning to stage War Horse, he said that he was looking at 2020.
“There’s a little show that we might do, ‘THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG’, which is at the West End at the moment. And there’s “THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME.”
Today is a good day. Very pleased to see you, Pluto!
