Repertory Philippines (REP) is set to stage Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel this November 2022.

Originally slated for May 2020, the musical was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With music by Richard Rodgers and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, Carousel follows the story of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan. Under a dark sky and tapestry of stars, their encounter sets them off on a whirlwind love affair. The choices they make, and the unfolding events that shape their fate and that of their daughter Louise, are tested in the crucible of life and beyond.

The musical, which first opened on Broadway in 1945, features songs such as If I Loved You and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Performance dates, theater venue, and ticket prices, as well as its creative team and cast have yet to be announced. In 2020, it was announced that Gian Magdangal and Nikki Gil will be playing Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan. No word yet on whether they will be returning to play the roles.
