Amblin Entertainment has just released the first photo of Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” movie remake.

In the photo, you can see lead stars Ansel Elgort (Tony) and Rachel Zegler (Maria), together with the rest of the cast who make up the Sharks and the Jets. Mike Faist plays Riff, Tony’s best friend, and David Alvarez plays Bernardo, Maria’s brother and the leader of the Sharks.

Also playing featured roles are Ariana DeBose (Anita), Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino), Rita Moreno (Valentina), Puerto Rican singer and dancer Ana Isabelle (Rosalia), Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank), and Brian dʼArcy James (Sergeant Krupke). They join more than 50 actors, singers, and dancers who are part of the ensemble cast of the two gangs.

As previously reported, “West Side Story” is set to be released in US cinemas on December 18, 2020. The film is produced and directed by Spielberg from a script by Tony Kushner. It is adapted from the original 1957 Broadway musical, which was written by Arthur Laurents, with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and concept, direction, and choreography by Jerome Robbins.
