The film stars Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey, Alisha Weir as Matilda, Stephen Graham as Mr. Wormwood, Andrea Riseborough as Mrs. Wormwood, and Sindhu Vee as Mrs. Phelps.

The stage adaptation is written by Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin and directed by Matthew Warchus. The upcoming film will also be written by Dennis Kelly, directed by Matthew Warchus, and will feature the original music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
