WATCH: Christian Bautista and West Side Story’s Jenna Burns Sing ‘Tonight’
Homegrown Tony and International Maria come together to sing one of the most popular songs from the musical!

In this video captured by Globe Live, Filipino theater actor and pop star Christian Bautista sings ‘Tonight’ with West Side Story international tour’s leading lady, Jenna Burns. Bautista played Tony in Stages’ local staging of West Side Story, co-starring with Joanna Ampil and Karylle (alternating as Maria) back in 2008. The musical was staged at the Meralco Theater from September 5 to October 12, and was directed by Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo.
Burns stars as Maria in the ongoing touring production, co-starring with leading man Kevin Hack. Composed of a young all-American cast, the musical will be playing only until August 27 at The Theatre at Solaire.
West Side Story is inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and is set amidst the vicious rivalry of teenage gangs in 1950s New York. The score is by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim, musical supervision by Donald Chan, and choreography recreated by Joey McKneely. (from Jerome Robbins’ original).
