The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) launches CCP Online with the streaming of Bulawan: The CCP 50th Anniversary Gala Concert.
Taking from the Bisaya word for Gold, Bulawan celebrates the Filipino artists’ trailblazing turns at home and on international stages.
Directed and designed by Loy Arcenas, the concert features performances led by CCP’s resident companies– Ballet Philippines, Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Philippine Madrigal Singers, UST Symphony Orchestra, National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA), and Tanghalang Pilipino.
Featured guest performers include Celeste Legaspi, Raul Sunico, Joanna Ampil, Audie Gemora, Monique Wilson, Rachelle Gerodias, Lara Maigue, Andion Fernandez, Nonie Buencamino, Gian Magdangal, Poppert Bernadas, Candice Adea, and Julio Blanes, through the special participation of the West Australian Ballet, Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Ligaya Amilbangsa, Madz et al – 250-voice choir, among many others.
Joining Arcenas in the creative team are Katsch Catoy for lighting design, GA Fallarme for video projections, and Barbie Tan-Tiongco for technical direction. The orchestra is conducted by Herminigildo Ranera and Yoshikazu Fukumura, while the choirs are conducted by Mark Carpio, who also acts as Music Consultant.
The concert was staged from September 20-21, 2019 at the CCP Main Theater.
CCP Online will be bringing HD and archival recordings in theater, dance, visual arts, film, literary, and workshop events from its Cultural Content Digital Archives to audiences online.
