The 90’s American sitcom The Nanny is being developed into a musical!

According to Deadline, series c0-creators Fran Drescher (who also played the titular role) and Peter Marc Jacobson will be writing the book, while Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s co-creator and star Rachel Bloom will write the lyrics. Bloom will also be writing the music with Adam Schlesinger, who’s also part of the songwriting team of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) is set to direct the production, with Scott Zeilinger and his son Brian Zeilinger producing. Casting as well as other information are yet to be announced.

The Nanny was on air from November 3, 1993 to June 23, 1999. It starred Fran Drescher as Fran Fine, a Jewish fashion queen from Flushing, New York, who becomes the nanny of three children from the New York/British high society.
