In the interview, he mentions that he hasn’t written any new music yet, “but there are new songs planned.” He also says that fans should expect a different experience from watching the film on the big screen to watching it on stage. “There are things that work on stage but won’t work on film. In order to do something that will work on its own merits, you have to do something different. The only concern is people who would be coming expecting to see a filmed version of the play. They’re not going to see that.”

The movie will be directed by Stephen Daldry. Confirmed casting has yet to be announced. The stage musical opened on May 28, 2003 at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco and officially opened on Broadway on October 30, 2003. It was nominated for 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical and won 3– Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for Idina Menzel, Best Scenic Design for Eugene Lee, and Best Costume Design for Susan Hilferty.
