Filipino theater fans all went a little bonkers when news broke that theater star Rachelle Ann Go was officially heading out to Broadway to play Gigi in the Broadway revival of Miss Saigon. She is joined by fellow Filipino stage vet and Laurence Olivier Award nominee Jon Jon Briones (who will reprise his role as The Engineer) and West End star Eva Noblezada (who will reprise her role as Kim). They are currently in rehearsals and are getting ready to open this March.

But get ready to go a little crazier because Go has not finished setting her sights on the global stage. She has just been tapped to play one of the lead roles in what is undoubtedly the biggest musical today.

According to Broadway.com, Go has been tapped to play Eliza Hamilton at the West End premiere of Hamilton.

She will be co-starring with fellow Filipino stage actress Christine Allado who will be playing her sister, Peggy Schuyler. Last year, Allado shared a special duet with “the world’s most beloved tenor”, Andrea Bocelli, during his concert in Manila. Her recent stage credits include Vanessa in the West End revival of In the Heights, as well as the understudy for Imelda Marcos in Here Lies Love.

The show will begin previews at the Victoria Palace Theatre on November 21, 2017.
