“Of Mice and Men” Adaptation “Katsuri” Full Cast Announced

As previously reported, Tanghalang Pilipino is set to stage a Hiligaynon adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute (CCP Studio Theater) this October. Entitled “Katsuri”, which is a Visayan word for mouse, the play is about two unlikely characters whose circumstances test their friendship. Bibeth Orteza is writing the adaptation, while Carlos Siguion-Reyna directs.

Jonathan Tadioan and Marco Viaña star as Toto and George respectively. They are joined by Michael Williams, who plays Boss/Kamatayan, Tanghalang Pilipino’s Artistic Director Nanding Josef as Tatang, and Fitz Bitana as Kulot (and ensemble). The Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company also join the cast as ensemble members with featured roles– Antonette Go as Inday/ensemble, Lhorvie Nuevo as Carling/ensemble, JV Ibesate as Payat/ensemble, Doray Dayao as Atorni/ensemble, Eunice Pacia as Monang/ensemble, Manok Nellas as Woman/ensemble, and Ybes Bagadiong as Nognog/ensemble.

Joining Orteza and Siguion-Reyna in the creative team are Dennis Marasigan (lighting design), Ohm David (set design), Daniel Gregorio (costume design), and TJ Ramos (sound design).
