Now Streaming: ‘Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko’ Ballet Show
Looking for more ‘jukebox’ OPM shows? How does a ballet featuring a hit 80s band sound? Ballet Philippines’s ‘Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko’ is back online, this time as part of CCP’s Buwan ng Wika lineup.
Awitin Mo At Isasayaw Ko tells the story of the forbidden love between Teresa, a high-class kolehiyala and Victor, a construction worker. They are brought together and torn apart amidst the backdrop of the Philippines in the late ‘70s – brimming with disco fever but within the confines of Martial Law.
Featuring music from VST & Co. performed by the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Gerard Salonga, the show has a libretto by Bibeth Orteza, the show features choreography from James Laforteza, Patrick John Rebullida, Carissa Adea, and additional choreography from Paul Alexander Morales and Gia Gequinto.
Directed by Paul Alexander Morales, the Set Designer is Ohm David, Costume Designer is James Reyes, projections are by GA Fallarme, with musical direction by Jed Balsamo and sound design from Jethro Joaquin.
The show features Edna Vida, Nonoy Froilan, Ednah Ledesma, Butch Esperanza, Denise Parungao, Garry Corpuz, Jean Marc Cordero, and Rita Winder. It also features Michael Pangilinan, Karylle, Markki Stroem, Kyle Echarri, Sandino Martin, Cooky Chua, Jef Flores, and Noel Comia Jr.
Soloists include Charmaine Bianca Perez, Victor Maguad, Monica Amanda Gana, Jemima Reyes, and Emmanuelle Guillermo, with company members Gillianne Gequinto, Lester John Reguindin, Eugene Obille, Sarah Anne Alejandro, Erl Emmanuel Sorilla, Garry Corpuz, Katrene San Miguel, Chrispoher Nino Royeca, Mark Anthony Grantos, Danilo Dayo Jr., Louise John Ababon, Earvin Guillermo, Ian Nick Tiba, and junior company members Stephanie Eunice Cabral, Joanne Therese Sartorio, Eloisa Jessa Tangalin, and Sanna Kaappola.
