Former American Idol contestants and real-life couple, Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, will star in a streamed version of the 2013 Broadway musical First Date

The virtual production will be directed by Meg Fofonoff and will stream for five performances July 23–25 (July 24-26 Philippine time) on Stellar. The cast also includes Kevin Massey (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Nick Cearley (The Skivvies, All Shook Up), Jennifer Sánchez (Sunday in the Park with George), Vishal Vaidya (Groundhog Day), and Aurelia Williams (Once on This Island).

The creative team also includes Jennifer Tremblay (costume design), Sue Schaller (storyboard art), Nate Wind (film editing), Howie Michael Smith (photography), Julie McBride (musical direction), Cynthia Menge (musical supervision), Julie Devore (production stage management), Stephen Milosevich and Lisa Ann Chernoff (stage management), and Alexandre Bleau (casting).

With music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner and a book by Austin Winsberg, First Date centers on a disastrous blind date between two single New Yorkers, Aaron and Casey. The show is staged so that the members of the audience seem to be at the bar with the lead characters, bearing witness to a series of awkward moments from rambling about their exes to deciding whether they should call it quits. Will they hold out long enough for a chance at a second date or even something more?

The show premiered at Seattle’s ACT Theatre in 2012 before opening on Broadway in 2013 starring Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez in the lead roles.
