The Dressing RoomThe Dressing Room: That Which Flows Away Ultimately Becomes Nostalgia, a tragic and comic demonstration of the socio-cultural conditions of its period, is a post-war Japanese play originally written in 1977 by the legendary playwright Shimizu Kunio. The “play within a play” tells the stories, frustrations, memoirs and aspirations of four actresses preparing backstage (gakuya) and waiting for their cue to enter onstage.
