In celebration of Broadway Open Mic’s 5th anniversary, the company is going online!

Amidst the enhanced community quarantine brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Sixteen Bars’ is presenting The Next Five Years: Broadway Open Mic: The Zoom Party.

Inspired by the Off-Broadway musical smash whose score has basically been done cover to cover throughout the Broadway Open Mic series, The Next Five Years isn’t just another Broadway Open Mic; it’s a promise to continue providing a space for lovers of the performing arts to continue exploring and honing their passions and talents, through whatever means available.

Guests of The Next Five Years: Broadway Open Mic: The Zoom Party are invited to bring selections (songs and scenes) from ANY of their favorite theatrical works. Just prepare a backing track, an external audio device, and the Zoom video conferencing software.

The Next Five Years: Broadway Open Mic: The Zoom Party will be held on April 25, 7 PM onwards, via a Zoom link that will be distributed to pre-registered participants. Registration will open this Wednesday, April 22, at 8 PM, via a form that will be posted on the Sixteen Bars Facebook page. Only performers need to register as performances will also be broadcast over Facebook Live.

Sixteen Bars and The Next Five Years: Broadway Open Mic: The Zoom Party supports the non-profit NGO, Para Sa Sining, and its fundraising project, #HomeNotAlone. The goal of this project is to provide a subsidy of PhP 5,000 (100 USD) to a minimum of fifty (50) workers in the creative sector; particularly to performing artists, cultural workers, and production crew for live events who are badly affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
