Ampalaya Monologues Celebrates #LoveWins this June

Ampalaya Monologues

Ampalaya Monologues, is an episodic play that features a collection of short monologues about love, heartaches and bitterness written by Mark Ghosn. Inspired by the play Vagina Monologues, the show is set in an actual bar and tells the inspiring stories of diverse individuals who’ve tasted the different flavors of bitterness that love has to offer.

The monologues are performed by theater actors from TAP – Theater in Alternative Platforms, an independent contemporary theater group from Las Pinas consisting of young professionals who aims to build a whole new image of theater. TAP marries the concept of performance arts and mobility by creating a whole new performance arena, penetrating Metro Mania via its galleries, coffee shops, bars, parks and other art venues.

Ampalaya Monologues

  • The LGBTQ Community and its allies – The event will serve as a venue to send the message of awareness, hope and inspiration to the LGBTQ community, its supporters and even non-supporters.
  • Young poets, writers and enthusiasts of Spoken Word Poetry – The event serves as avenue for aspiring writers and/or fans to watch and meet their favorite spoken word artists. At the same time, the open mic session gives the amateur artists a chance to perform their piece in front of a live audience.
  •  Fans of hugot-related events – Most of our audience consists of college students and young professionals who are fond of watching shows related to love and heartbreaks. The show serves as a venue for them to release their emotions while being entertained at the same time.
  • Supporters of the Philippine Independent Theater scene – Because the show is headlined by the theater group TAP – Theater in Alternative Platforms, we also have audiences who are coming to the event to experience a different kind of theater show that brings monologues to a more accessible venue instead of the usual four corners of a theater house.
